Things You Should Always Pack In Your Carry-On

We got a trip coming up so packing my carry-on bag with the right essentials at my fingertips could make or break this travel experience. Keep your ID, passport, visa, boarding pass, and travel documents near. Travel looks a lot different these days so make sure you have your papers in order. Depending on where you’re going, make sure you have your debit/credit cards handy in case you need to access local currency. Here are a few basic tips I’ve found useful while traveling. However, navigating airports, security checks, and long flights can also prove daunting, especially if you’re unprepared. Let me explain what I mean.

Travel Essentials

I’m a very organized person so having kids everywhere is necessary for me. Give me all the packing cubes to compartmentalize everything like my charger for my phone or laptop earbuds tablet and of course don’t forget a universal plug. Every countries outlets are different. Research a good durable carry-on bag that can fit most if not all the airlines. I like Away myself. Choose one that works for you.

Toiletries & Personal Care Items

All my toiletries are travel size excluding my toothbrush and water flosser. I usually pack string floss, travel-size toothpaste, deodorant, mouthwash, a bonnet or silk scarf and everything skin care. I do not remove these items from my toiletry bag. It stays there until the next trip. I know what you’re thinking, does that stuff expire if you don’t use it in time.  the answer is no because I make sure I use it in a timely manner.

Clothing

Here’s the fun part! Creating a mood board, pairing up clothes with shoes and other accessories To see how every outfit would look day-to-day.  always check the weather before you pack so you’ll know if you need to bring thermals, scarf or summer dress and sandals. If you’re traveling to a colder climate, wear the heaviest or thickest item on the flight. They do have compression cubes for those who travel for a week or two. Change of clothes, in case of unexpected delays (when it happens), lost luggage, or spills, it’s a good idea to pack a change of clothes whenever packing my carry-on bag.

Entertainment

Sometimes, packing my carry-on bag with my kids in mind, I definitely keep snacks on deck with earplugs or gum for takeoff. Choose non-perishable snacks like granola bars, nuts, dried fruit, or crackers. In addition, refill your water bottle after passing through security. Also,  I try to keep workbooks, maybe a crayon nearby so they can stay entertain while in the air. They watch their favorite movie as well. I keep myself entertained by reading a book or just going to sleep.

Packing a great carry-on is my lifeline to make sure everything is within reach whenever I need it.  I try to pack based on what I truly need and use While staying TSA compliant. What are some must have items you take with you and your carry-on?  I love to hear about it in the comments. Safe travels and as always take care!
